Dirk Morris

Dirk MorrisChief Executive Officer
Chief Investment Officer

Dirk Morris joined BT Financial Group in October 2006 and is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and management of BTIM’s investment capabilities across all asset classes.

Dirk began his career at the Reserve Bank of Australia in Sydney and has over 24 years experience in finance. During this time, Dirk has held a number of senior investment appointments in Australia and internationally. Dirk’s previous appointments have included Chief Investment Officer (Currency) at Putnam Investments, Head of Global Strategy at Bankers Trust, Head of Currency at JP Morgan and Global Economist with Lehman Brothers.

Dirk holds a PhD International Finance from the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva and a B.A. Economics and Politics (Honours) from Macquarie University, Sydney.

Earle Macgregor

Earle MacgregorChief Financial Officer

Earle Macgregor is responsible for the overall financial operations and reporting of BTIM.

An experienced CFO and chartered accountant, Earle has previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer for Bluestone, Mortgage Choice and Freedom Group, worked for several years in a business advisory role with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and spent three years as Financial Controller of the Daily Mail (Associated Newspapers) in the UK.

Earle has worked with a range of large and mid-sized companies with significant organisational and life cycle changes, including IPOs and trade sale exits.

Phil Stockwell

Phil StockwellChief Operating Officer

Phil Stockwell has responsibility for the commercial operations of BTIM, including operational risk, product management and development, client services, technology and human resources.

Phil has had a diverse professional career in distribution, corporate strategy and operations. Previously he was a management consultant with McKinsey and Company in Sydney and New York, and KPMG in Brisbane.

Phil holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and Bachelors degrees in Commerce and Economics from the University of Queensland. Phil is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

Senior Investment Team

Crispin Murray

Head of Equity Strategies

Crispin Murray was appointed Head of Australian Equities for BT Financial Group in January 2003 and is responsible for managing the flagship Australian equities funds and Large Cap Australian equities team.

Crispin joined BT Funds Management (BTFM) in April 1994 as an investment analyst working on European equities, and was appointed Head of European Equities in 1998, with responsibility for portfolios totalling $4 billion.

Crispin has also worked for Equitable Life Assurance Society in the UK as a bond and currency analyst.

Crispin holds an Honours degree in Economics & Human Geography from Reading University in the UK.

Scott Osborne

Head of Income Strategies

Scott Osborne is the Head of BT’s Cash and Enhanced team, and is responsible for the management of Australian and New Zealand cash funds. Scott has portfolio management responsibilities across these funds and is also responsible for formulation of investment strategy, portfolio construction, analysis of structured finance securities, sector allocation and stock selection and servicing client relationships.

Scott started with BT Financial Group in 1988, joining the fixed income and cash teams. Prior to these appointments, he was a dealer for both fixed interest and money market securities.

Scott holds a Master of Business in Finance from University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.

Joe Bracken

Head of Macro Strategies

Joe Bracken joined BT Financial Group as Head of Macro Strategies in July 2007. He brings extensive experience in equities research, quantitative strategies and a strong track record running a $6 billion portfolio strategy of a global pension fund.

Prior to joining BT Financial Group Joe worked 4 years for ABP, one of the largest pension fund in the world with over $240 billion in assets under management. There Joe was a founding member of the Global Quantitative Equities group, a team that runs approximately $24 billion using multiple pure quantitative equity models.

Prior to that Joe was a Vice President, Equity Research for J.P. Morgan Securities. Before that Joe was a Quantitative Fund Manager at Merrill Lynch Mercury Asset Management, London, UK.

Joe holds a Masters of Business Administration at London Business School (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Computer Science at Dublin City University (First Class Honours).

Robert Swift

Head of Multi Strategies

Robert Swift joined BT Financial Group in September 2007 and is responsible for BT’s Global and Australian alternative investments, and Australian and international sustainability funds.

Previously, Robert was based in the USA, where he co-founded and managed a global equity long/short hedge fund management company, Oxhead Capital Management. This business was acquired by Morgan Stanley in 2006 after three years in operation.  

From 1995 to 2002, Robert was a Managing Director and Partner at Putnam Investments, Boston, USA and was one of four Chief Investment Officers in Putnam’s Growth Equity group, collectively responsible for over $US200 billion.  His specific responsibilities included Global and Regional Growth-oriented Equity mandates for both institutional and retail clients based in the USA, Europe and Asia.   

Robert has worked in London and Sydney in portfolio management and analyst roles with firms including Hill Samuel Investment Advisors, Pring Dean/ Hambros Equities and John Govett & Co.
 

Martin Franc

Head of Sales & Marketing

Martin Franc joined BT Financial Group in 2006. Martin’s primary responsibility is the management of the Institutional, Wholesale and Private Sales teams within BTIM’s Investment Management business unit.

Prior to joining BT Financial Group, Martin was responsible for the sales and marketing activities for Putnam Investments in Australia and New Zealand. Martin began his professional career in the funds management industry with Bankers Trust in 1994.

Martin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Political Science) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment (ASIA).
