2010 Financial Year End

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF)

The Government has introduced new Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) laws to reduce the risk of Australian businesses being misused for the purposes of money laundering or financing terrorism.

These changes were introduced into Australia by the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) Act 2006, bringing Australia in line with international standards.

As a result of the new legislation, BT Investment Management (RE) Limited (BTIM (RE) or (BTIM), along with other financial services organisations must change the way in which we verify the identity of customers.

BTIM (RE) will be complying with this new legislation from 23 February 2009.

The question and answer section below provides further information.
